In a Vase on Monday – Wild Ride

“Wildflowers can’t be controlled, and neither can the girl with a soul boundless as the sky, and a spirit as free and wild as the ocean.” ~Melody Lee

This quote reminded me of my inner child and younger self. I feel her boundless soul and the wild ocean within her. And as the weather has been clear, warm/hot I am finding less time to write as the small garden calls me out to do some work. So today is a quick post highlighting one of my favorite native flowers this time of year, native hardy geraniums or wild geraniums ; Geranium maculatum. The pink profusion is amazing. And with the cool weather in May they have lasted so much longer than I remember, well over a month. These beauties are literally growing wild seeding themselves in parts of my garden and spreading along the front of my new native garden.

My alliums that poked through a seam in the landscape fabric have multiplied. So I took a couple for a vase with lovely wild geraniums. I thought they would look nice posed against the backdrop of the native garden and wild geranium.

I used the vase I got for my birthday from a lovely friend. Doesn’t the posy look perfect in the vase.

With this week’s lovely vase, I am linking in to the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, at Rambling in the Garden. I will be doing a longer post in the upcoming weeks highlighting the native garden and what is growing.
