In a Vase on Monday – A Storied Life

“Every Iris tells a story without speaking.” â€“ Anonymous

I am a story teller from way back. My father and his ancestors were great tellers of tales. Not hard to imagine given his Irish heritage and silver tongue. I inherited that bit from him. His dry sense of humor and sarcastic air along with a bit o’ exaggeration.

And it is the love of sharing stories, that brought me to start this blog. Through this blog I began by telling stories about my garden. And then turned to my love of poetry. Which in turn led me to want to write a book with Beth@PlantPostings. Two story tellers melding our talents to create a celebration of nature.

I chose my purple Siberian iris for a vase today. In general iris symbolizes wisdom, hope, and trust. Purple iris specifically-wisdom, respect, and admiration. Perfect sentiments to honor my story telling ancestors, and this blog.

Summer is about to start in my garden. But before spring exits, I see the blooms increase. Birdsong rises as parents begin to feed their young. And the weather heats up as the daylight reaches its peak.

“My heart quickens its beat as the garden comes of age, And spring moves to summer, writing a new page.” ~Donna Donabella, The Rush of Spring (A Journal of Seasonal Wisdom, pg. 62)

With this vase, I am linking in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden. All the pictures shared in this post were taken with my iPhone camera, and enhanced with the Prisma app.
