In a Vase on Monday – Barbie’s Tutu

“The dance of the flower in the wind, in the sun, in the rain, cannot be understood by the head; the heart has to be open for it.” ~Rajneesh

Nasturtiums (pictured above) are blooming, but the other summer flowers are still just a bit away from blooming.

So I will use this fun vase of double pink dianthus given to me by my husband. It immediately said Barbie pink, and we both really love it. Pink symbolizes love, nurture and compassion.

And the flowers when they opened were the perfect image of a tutu reminding me and my inner child, who was screeching in delight, that we wanted to practice our ballet. They are lasting a very long time.

There were a few flowers just starting to come into their own like more nasturtiums mixed with cleome and marigolds.

Others, we still are waiting. Here are my sunflowers and zinnias.

And cosmos and the one dahlia growing.

A few calendulas and still lots of nigella with California poppies were blooming again. This combo growing in a container with abandon made me think vase.

So I put a few of these in a small pitcher vase I inherited from Mother-in-law.

I love the vase as it is perfect for a few flowers. And I love the shape.

With these vases, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden.
