Happy Easter!
These eggs were hand painted by former Ukrainian students of mine in the 1980s. They remain one of my most prized possessions.
With our last snow melted, and some warm temps last week, the garden made sure to catch up and sing into spring. These are Glory of the Snow just beginning.
And with the switch back to cooler 40s this week, the early bulbs should last longer. Puschkinias in the front garden are blooming in the grass.
Snowdrops should have already bloomed, but these held tight in the bud until the snows passed.
This perennial Hardy Geranium stayed green all winter. Definitely a result of a mild winter.
Fairy Rose has so much new growth and looks like it will come back beautifully.
Early columbine is so full of lovely cabbage leaves even after enduring snow and cold temps.
The hyacinth, one of my favorite early bulbs, has been held to this level of bloom for most of March. It should gain growth and bloom now.
Even the Korean Lilac is breaking bud.
I can’t wait to cut some flowers, but I didn’t want to take them right now, so I am settling on the lovely tulips my husband brought home for Easter for this week’s vase.
They blend perfectly with the Easter Bunny’s baskets.
