A Somewhat Wordy Wednesday – Homage to Fall

“Thank you for the invitation to the garden party. It is sure to be a huge shindig, and I look forward to this annual affair with its colorful banners and festive party favors….So for those of us who will be your honored guests, let us dance, celebrate, and bid a fond farewell under the lingering starlight.” ~Donna Donabella, Dear Autumn, A Journey of Seasonal Wisdom

The Wheel of the Year has turned again. And in the Northern Hemisphere we have entered the season of Autumn, also known as Fall. It has grown to be a favorite season. One in which I find time for reflection. Time seems to slow down. The light is fading during the day as the nighttime stays with us longer.

The weather cools, too, making it a great time to be in nature to observe the slow changes. To bask in the silence as the birds no longer sing their mating songs. The cicadas are silenced, and you can hear the rustling of the leaves clearly as the winds of fall whip up more and more until they howl with winter.

This letter to Autumn, at the top of the post, is an excerpt from my opening homage to Autumn in our book, A Journey of Seasonal Wisdom. Beth Stetenfeld and I invite you to take advantage of the changing of the seasons, and follow along in the book with activities, journal prompts and gardening tips. Immerse yourself in the new season.

If you would like a copy of the book, you can find it here in print and ebook format.

The pictures are from my old garden taken in 2014 after I retired. It was a glorious foggy day as the meadow, pond and garden plants were also retiring for the year.
