Seasonal Celebrations-Spring Light

“The sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky.”  ~ Hafiz

As March begins, the dawning of a new season is upon us.  And not just any season……SPRING!!!  A gardener’s delight as we thaw, defrost and begin to come out of the daze of winter.  And what a winter.  The coldest January in 5 years.  February brought snow and continued cold.  Now we are closer here in the northeast to a change.  So I hope you will join me now for Seasonal Celebrations as life stirs once again in our gardens.

As each season has began and ended, I continued to follow the light.  Feel it through me and warm me.  While we all need air , food and water to survive, I believe we also need light.  Without light, my soul cannot sing.  My heart beats a bit slower, my brain is duller.

While the darkness can bring me rest and relaxation, the light of spring is special because it warms the earth getting it ready for growth.  It stimulates the seeds and roots as they begin to push up finding the light to thrive!  Like my precious plants, I too crave the light to thrive and reawaken my soul.

“Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”  ~Buddha

I am drawn to the rising sun each morning as it delivers another day.  A new day for me to begin again.  A new dawn to start fresh.

The naked earth is warm with Spring,
And with green grass and bursting trees
Leans to the sun’s kiss glorying,
And quivers in the sunny breeze.
Julian Grenfell

A light to bring warmth to our very core as we finally are able to feel the glowing warmth and flourish.

The sun has come out… and the air is vivid with spring light. ~Byron Caldwell Smith

Without the leaves in early spring, the bright rays of light linger for hours over each patch of soil as we inspect every square inch for new glorious growth.

A light exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here

Emily Dickinson

I love how the shadows dance in spring.  It is a challenge to take pictures of the early blooming bulbs, but I love looking for those shadow shots.

Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love! ~Sitting Bull

Bathed in the warmer light of spring, all the critters and blooms start to come out to dance.  It is a surprise to see each new bloom reappear as if for the first time.

I hope you will join in now and tell us all about how you are celebrating the new season especially around this very special equinox (whether fall, spring or something else).   Just write a post and leave a comment here with your Seasonal Celebrations link.

 My spring mantra:IMG_0286

Paying attention to the my senses as the days progress is a wonderful goal.  I hope to drink in each sight, sound, scent, touch and taste of spring.  I will especially bask in the rays of spring.  And with the start of spring, I will be able to start my garden observations in earnest.

I am deeply committed to sitting in the garden.  ~Mirabel Osler

Come Join Us:

Seasonal Celebrations is a time for marking the change of seasons and what is happening in your part of the world during this time.  I hope you will join in by creating a post telling us how you celebrate this time of year whether spring or fall or something else.  Share your traditions, holidays and celebrations in pictures and words.

And it seems so appropriate to collaborate with Beth and her Lessons Learned meme.  What lessons have you learned this past season of winter here in the North and summer in the South.  Then tell us about your wishes, desires and dreams for this new season.

The rules are simple.  Just create a post that talks about lessons learned and/or seasonal celebrations.  If you are joining in for both memes please leave a comment on both our blog posts.  Or if you are choosing to join only one meme, leave a comment on that blog post.  Make sure to include a link with your comment.

Beth and I will do a summary post of our respective memes on the equinox (around the 2oth of March).  And we will keep those posts linked on a page on our blog.  Your post should be linked in the weekend before the solstice to give us enough time to include your post in our summary.  And if you link in a bit late, never fear we will include it on the special blog page (which I still have to create).  The badges here can be used in your post.   So won’t you join in the celebration!!

Next up on the blog:     Monday will be time to see what happened in the February garden.  In March, I plan to savor another Garden Book and present my latest native plant for the series, of Simply The Best Natives.  Of course I will be presenting my Garden Lessons Learned too.

I hope you will join me for my posts once a month at Beautiful Wildlife Garden. See my most current post now.

And I can also be found blogging once a month at Vision and Verb.  I hope you enjoy my latest post.
