“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.” ~Zen Shin
Lots of annual flowers are showing up finally. I thought I’d cut some and start putting them in vases. Sun is starting to rise later, and cooler temps are sneaking in. So a few months before frost will inevitably set in to stop the abundance. It is hard to choose, but I will start slow.
Zinnias…I think I will wait for another week of a vaseful.
The beginning of the only dahlia that decided to bloom, ‘Break Out’….Yes they will be lovely.
With cosmos….
And some calendula…
And Fairy Rose.
Oh yes, that is perfection! So many flowers to choose from, but it is no contest. They will each have their time to shine.
With this vase, I am also joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

Such a lovely vase … glorious, glorious colours together. Have a wonderful week … it has started well!
Thanks so much Cathy!!
It’s a lovely arrangement, Donna! The vase is a perfect complement too. I’m regretting the absence of Cosmos in my garden – my fault entirely as I never got round to sowing the seeds and I expect it’s too late now.
With your climate you should try sowing them. You never know.
Such perfect blooms Donna, and such a pleasing colour palette. They must be bringing you so much joy, both inside and out
I never know what will happen with dahlias. And this year I am so pleased. Such gorgeous colors and size in this one bloom.
The pastel colors of confections, delicious!
I really love how it all came together.
Glad your flowers are coming into their season and what a great show. I planted cosmos but nary a one made it. Yours are so lovely.
Cosmos always seem to grow here until a hard frost. I was happy to see them catch the wind and smile as they grew.
Oh yes, perfection Donna! You made excellent choices! Have a good week!
Thanks so much!!!
Ooooo…Dahlias, Zinnias, Cosmos, and Calendulas! Favorites, and all such great cut flowers. And your arrangement is so pretty. <3
Thanks Beth. I know. Yummy cut flowers I am so happy to see in summer.
