“Nothing is more wistful than the scent of lilac, nor more robust than its woody stalk…” — Stevie Smith
Late spring and lilacs…..ahhhh! The scents of spring are intoxicating. After a long winter of snow and cold with few scents to mark the months, it is almost overwhelming when spring arrives.

But it is in late spring (May to be specific), when we are assailed the most. My favorite month-of course it’s my birthday month. The scents and sights bring back so many memories.

Lilacs fill the bushes here in the northeast in May. While I miss my lilac bushes from bygone gardens, I have Korean lilacs to fill the void. They bloom a bit later into early June while spring is still around.

I love when these beauties arrive. I only cut a few to fill a favorite Belleek vase. Hope you enjoy them as much as me.
With this vase, I am linking in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. All the pictures shared in this post were taken with my iPhone camera, and enhanced with the Prisma app.
