“For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” ~ Judy Garland
I am usually very secure in the knowledge that, on Valentine’s Day, my husband will come home with red roses. He doesn’t vary. He just loves red roses for this special occasion.
But this year, he walked in with two dozen red tulips. I was ecstatic. For me tulips mean spring. And the red color was just luscious. He explained that the store just got a shipment of tulips in and these were the only red ones. They spoke to him.
And what a perfect choice as red tulips are said to evoke feelings of passion and love, and say ‘my feelings are true.’ A great flower to woo the one you love.
I loved watching them open more each day. It felt like a heart connection.
A special friend came over to visit for a bit the other day, and as soon as she saw the tulips she told us they are her favorite flower. Yes these tulips are amazing at spreading the love.
With this vase, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

Hi Donna, the first tulips of the season are always welcome and yours are especially beautiful and meaningful. Happy late winter days
Thanks Annette. I only wish I could have grown the tulips myself. Of course they wouldn’t bloom until late April.
They are gorgeous, Donna! I visited my local garden center last week in search of pre-sprouted tulips, which they sometimes carry in spring. Sadly, there were none to be found. I’ve found that’s the only way I can grow any of the splashy tulips in my climate, although the smaller species tulips have been more accommodating.
Check out Trader Joe’s in a pinch.
Amore!
Exactly
Donna, your husband is such a romantic ~ the tulips are stunning! <3
Thanks. I think he is too.
Wow! I can just imagine your heart skipped a beat when your hubby walked in with these.
It sure did.
These are simply gorgeous Donna! How lucky you are to have a husband with such good taste! I think I would prefer these to roses too!
Thanks Cathy. I prefer them and I love his taste.
What a lovely man your husband is Donna
I couldn’t agree more Anna. He is special.
What a wonderful hubby! They are beautiful. 🙂
Thanks Beth. He’s a keeper! ❤️
