“The dance of the flower in the wind, in the sun, in the rain, cannot be understood by the head; the heart has to be open for it.” ~Rajneesh
Nasturtiums (pictured above) are blooming, but the other summer flowers are still just a bit away from blooming.
So I will use this fun vase of double pink dianthus given to me by my husband. It immediately said Barbie pink, and we both really love it. Pink symbolizes love, nurture and compassion.
And the flowers when they opened were the perfect image of a tutu reminding me and my inner child, who was screeching in delight, that we wanted to practice our ballet. They are lasting a very long time.
There were a few flowers just starting to come into their own like more nasturtiums mixed with cleome and marigolds.
Others, we still are waiting. Here are my sunflowers and zinnias.
And cosmos and the one dahlia growing.
A few calendulas and still lots of nigella with California poppies were blooming again. This combo growing in a container with abandon made me think vase.
So I put a few of these in a small pitcher vase I inherited from Mother-in-law.
I love the vase as it is perfect for a few flowers. And I love the shape.
With these vases, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

The smallest arrangements are often the sweetest. I should grow Dianthus more often as the flowers really are charming. I’m glad your summer garden is delivering on its promise, Donna.
Thanks Kris and yes those are dianthus. Thanks for the nudge. I changed the post. I forgot they come in doubles. I love the green-blue foliage which usually gives them away.
Such delicate tussy mussies.
I almost don’t want to cut them
Barbie pink, indeed. 🙂 (What a wonderful hubby.) Your other plants and pots are lovely, too.
Thanks Beth. Everything is coming along especially with all the heat and occasional storms
Your poppy-calendula vase is one for the heart. The pink flowers with their message of love, nurture and compassion are much needed.
I see you subscribed again. I’m sorry you were having trouble with my blog.
So happy you enjoyed the vases. Yes I tried subscribing again but still can’t comment. Will keep trying.
The Dianthus are really pretty, but your small vase of flowers from your planter is even sweeter!
I agree Cathy. I do love vases from my garden best.
