“The sky takes on shades of orange during sunrise and sunset, the colour that gives you hope that the sun will set only to rise again.” ~ Ram Charan
Orange has never been a favorite color of mine. I don’t gravitate toward it when I color or decorate or even when I buy clothes. But when I see it in my garden it brings me such incredible joy. So unexpected with deep vibes of positivity. Yes I would even say hope.
It is a particular favorite of my husband so I was not surprised when he brought me home these stunning orange double peony tulips. He remembered I did want some spring flowers and in particular tulips. So of course my eyes bugged out like a kid in a candy store. Just in awe of these amazing flowers.
I have taken about 25 pictures of these tulips….
as they have slowly opened.
A perfectly dreamy vase.
And here are a few other vases I created last week with the cold weather still around. When the weather cleared a bit on May 1, I got out to cut flowers for a proper vase to put at my threshold. These lovely daffs were still blooming profusely and sending up new flowers.
I added some purple pansies and love the look. The vine is a sprig of philodendron I am rooting.
Then later in the week the ‘Little Beauty Tulips’ also took off as it warmed a tiny bit, and I picked some more. They are naturalizing in beautifully in year two.
What better complementing flower than pansies.
I finished a few more coloring pages for my #the100dayproject. This artistic/creative practice actually began on January 1st as a year long practice, and was a no-brainer for using as my 100 day project too.
With this week’s lovely vases, I am linking in to the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, at Rambling in the Garden.
All the pictures shared in this post were taken with my Nikon Coolpix or iPhone camera, and manipulated on my iPhone using the apps, Pixlr and Prisma. You can follow my progress with #the100dayproject in my Instagram and Facebook feed.

The tulips are wonderful Donna! I love orange tulips too, and the double frilly ones are so pretty. And your vase with pansies and daffodils is sweet. Hope it is warming up for you now. We have finally had some warm weather and everything is exploding into life!
Definitely warming here. The explosion should commence soon!!
Beautiful things. I am with you about orange as a colour too. I also love to see it in the garden.
Thanks so much!
All 3 arrangements are beautiful, Donna. You’re lucky to have a husband that regularly brings you flowers too! I adore tulips and may give ‘Little Beauty’ a try in my garden even though it’s not known to appreciate mild winter conditions as well as some other species tulips.
I do feel lucky!! Thanks
The older I get the more I appreciate orange! It has really grown on me and now everywhere in my garden. Wonderful works!
Oh I bet your garden is delightful with all the orange.
What a thoughtful husband you have. So many beautiful flowers for you to share with us!
The very best!!
I have recently become entranced by orange tulips as well… they are marvelous!
I think for me I was so starved for color after this long winter
Beautiful Tulips and Daffodils, Donna. I love them all. 🙂
Amazing when you have little flowering what you can do.
Love the orange tulips. They’re one of the first things I planted when I moved here 22 years ago and found them daring somehow. They didn’t repeat bloom but I still remember them.
I wish I had room for taller tulips but I can swoon over my little species ones that are filling in nicely
All your arrangements are lovely. I love the tulips. When orange is that apricot-cantaloupe color it is sensational.
I completely agree. That is the best!
