“I must have flowers, always, and always.” ~ Claude Monet
In my small garden, we are reaching that time when containers will be finishing and I will be pulling these annuals. But before I do that, I decided to look where there was an abundance of flowers in the few perennials I have. The state or period of flourishing for flowers is called florescence.
The late blooming lavenders were a definite.
As well as the late blooming hydrangea. These are still coming on with new blooms showing up as the weather warms and the rains fall. Over 5 inches last week.
I cut a bunch of smaller-sized hydrangeas and tall flowering lavender.
As well as orange nasturtiums.
I love the fall look.
With this vase, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

Glad you’re enjoying some late-season flowers, Donna. The arrangement is bright and cheerful. I love the addition of your nasturtiums.
Thanks. The nasturtiums were going to be pulled so they were perfect to add to the vase.
Rain always seems to give a garden a boost (at least so long as it doesn’t come as part of a hurricane!). I’m glad you’re enjoying your fall flowers! I’m envious of the Hydrangeas.
I am a bit in awe of this particular bush.
That quote of Monet really resonates with me … not heard it before. Your containers look as if they have been really abundant and you will no doubt be reluctant to empty them – will you be able to replant them with anything for the winter? Your vase looks really fresh despite the lateness of the season
Thanks. No likely I won’t plant anything in many pots. Some have perennials and I may put pansies in a couple as they will last through our winter.
Beautiful, as always, Donna. I find myself trying to savor these perfect fall days…they don’t last long enough. Happy IAVOM. 🙂
Thanks Beth. No they don’t last long enough. Time to savor.
The nasturtiums add a nice pop of color! I love that hydrangeas dry so well for winter arrangements. Which reminds me, I have to get some fresh pickings soon before the frost browns them!
Hoping a few more weeks of warmer weather prevails before we see a frost.
I prefer your size hydrangea flowers to the usual humungous ones. These can be enjoyed.
I think I was lucky that the cutting back I had to do in late spring made some a bit smaller.
That is a unique combination fo flowers Donna. I like it! The nasturtiums make it look autumnal, although I think of them as summer flowers.
I agree. They look like autumn but think of them as summer.
Your hydrangea look amazing, especially for this time of the year.
Yes. Without the beetle damage I had to cut in late spring I don’t think it would look that good.
