“God gave us our memories so that we might have roses in December.” ~ J.M. Barrie
I actually have roses in January. Not grown in my garden, but a gift from my husband. He loved the variety of color with this bunch he found at our local grocer. I adore all the colors too. Like a rose garden in one bunch, now in a vase.
He was disappointed that there was no Baby’s Breath with the roses or for sale as a separate bunch. Apparently he loves roses and Baby’s Breath, how they look together. Who is this man? A romantic for sure, and one who knows what he likes in flowers.
It has been bitterly cold with a bit of snow and some sun, but oh I am dreaming of a warm late spring garden full of roses these days with tons of fragrance. That will not be in my small garden, but in my mind, memory and hopefully more vases.
These roses were placed in my catch all green vase on our table in the dining area.
I think my favorite is the one is the yellow and pink rose, almost peachy in color. Of course I love that unusual deep pink and a white rose too. Not what I usually see in bunches here. In the Language of Flowers, roses have many meanings: white-young love and innocence; pink-elegance and sweetness; yellow-friendship and joy; peach-sincerity and gratitude and red-love and passion. What a beautiful message to send. Not that he knew exactly what they all meant. His message was definitely love!
And I adore how the candles and fairy lights give them a special glow. It won’t be long now before the daylight is longer (already gained a half hour or more) and we begin to warm and see early flowers pop-up in the garden.
With this vase, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

You are lucky to have a caring husband so tuned in to flowers, Donna. The peachy rose is my favorite one also. Have a good week.
I count my blessings every day. Thanks! Have a great week yourself.
Beautiful, and I agree with you…when a flower is that melded yellow and pink color my heart swoons over it. I try to find it for my gardens. It reminds me a bit of the colors in the Peace rose.
Yes the Peace rose. I had forgotten that rose. Thank you for bringing it back to my memory. My mother’s favorite.
Happy IVOM, Donna. Roses always bring such joy. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
My pleasure. Now if I had each of these in my garden I would love it.
How curious to have the posy made up of different varieties of rose – definitely one for generating conversations and comparisons. It certainly sounds as if your husband knows what he likes and what you would like in terms of flower choices!
Indeed. I thought the flower growers had lots of onsie roses and made combo roses.
I know I’ve said it before but your husband is a jewel, Donna! Enjoy your wonderful roses. I hope they have some scent (as they don’t always anymore).
Yes a bit of scent was nice. And yes he is a jewel.
How wonderful, roses in January and what a sweet husband. I agree about the baby’s breath. I like the combination too.
I agree with him too!
I think your husband has wonderful taste in flowers Donna! And they are allowed to shine alone without any Baby’s Breath mixed in. The peachy orange one would be my favourite. And they look like they will last well too. Enjoy!
Thanks Cathy. They actually do shine alone don’t they.
Your husband is a treasure, as you know!
Yes he is!!
Your husband chooses such beautiful flowers for you Donna. hold on and be patient – spring can’t be that far away now
Oh yes. Channeling patience here.
What a romantic man! <3 My husband is not romantic at all, although he has given me bunches of roses and baby's breath after our children were born.
I have several roses in my garden, they are definitely a favourite. Your photos made me smile. 🙂
He is romantic. I had many treasured roses at our old house before we moved to this rental property where I am severely restricted in what I can plant.
