In a Vase on Monday – Autumn’s Flame

“Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.” ~Faith Baldwin

The colors of autumn have been mind blowing. Even with the earlier sunsets.

The maple leaves, a favorite tree, are a kaleidoscope of colors; orange, pink, red.

And the last of my container plants, in the back garden, were used for this vase. The company doing the power washing of the exterior agreed not to use chemicals; they were using a diluted bleach…..yikes! But with powerful jets of water, and some scrub brushes, they made do.

As you can see we had several zinnias left.

And a red tobacco, nicotiana.

Pink cosmos

And a few calendula.

It really brought the colors of autumn to our indoor space. For remaining fall vases, I will rely on perennials that are still flowering. Our weather turned warm so hoping that the first killing frost is a long way off still.

With this vase, I am joining in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden.

  1. That’s one truly spectacular sunset, Donna! I can’t recall ever seeing such a colorful display here but then a perpetual brownish gray haze doesn’t do much for views of the horizon. I’m glad you were able to collect a host of pretty flowers before the cleanup crew came through.

  2. Love the flowery vase, Donna. At this point, we are grateful with whatever flowers are left for us to enjoy. It’s all gravy!

  3. I enjoyed reading your post again this week Donna. Those blooms are so delicate, and so pleased you rescued them from the bleach wash down.

  4. That’s some sunset Donna and a vase of flowers to match! I hope that the frost stays clear of your garden for a good while to come so you can enjoy your remaining blooms as long as possible.
