“Those we love are like stars — they never go away; they only shine from far away.” ~Unknown
Spring is slowly creeping in with green everywhere. And these delicate tiny blue bulbs.

Siberian Squill or Scilla siberica popping up.

Add to that the Striped Squill or Puschkinia scilloides (a particular favorite of mine) as well as Glory of the Snow or Scilla luciliae. All these will naturalize and spread adding beautiful delicate color throughout the garden eventually.
Every spring, I love to carefully cut a small bunch and fit them into a tiny vase to enjoy indoors.
With this sweet little vase, I am linking into the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.
I am bringing back this poem in honor of a special family member, Percy. My brother’s family adopted Percy about 6 months before I met him in 2017. He passed away this weekend. He will be greatly missed.

He Watches
Perched
Ever alert
Ready to spring into action
Clever as he amuses himself
Youthful exuberance
all the way
to the
tip of
his long
tail.
This is who I met as he eyed me cautiously.
Sized me up with those pale green eyes, curious.
Not too affectionate, but willing to connect with a touch.
PERCY-of many breeds, with proud Latin name.
‘Effective Hunter’

Percy was a rescue cat that my nieces fell in love with. Thought to be part Persian, he had an abnormally long tail. He made quite an impression on me, wrapping his long tail around my heart.

Awww, Percy was lucky to know you. Sorry for the loss, but happy that he enriched your lives. Cats and dogs are special. <3 Your poem (as always) is fabulous. Happy IAVOM and Happy Easter!
Thanks so much Beth. Yes our fur family is very special and Percy was extra special.
What sweet little blooms, Donna, proving vases don’t need big showy blowsy flowers to bring joy. It sounds as if Percy was a really special cat
Thanks Cathy. I agree. The little blooms are special. Yes Percy was extraordinary.
Those special pets stay in our hearts forever, RIP dear Percy.
Thanks so much for your kind words.
I’m sorry your family lost your Percy, Donna/
Thanks. He was a special guy.
It is lovely seeing these little flowers up close Donna. Your small vase is perfect for them. Sorry the much-loved Percy is gone… they do weave themselves into our hearts, don’t they. ❣️
They sure do Cathy. So glad you enjoyed the vase.
A beautiful vase of spring delights Donna. I’m sorry to read that there is a Percy shaped hole in your lives. They leave a big gap when they go
P.S. It’s lovely to see you blogging again!
Oh Anna thank you so much.
