“But the days grow short when you reach September.” –Maxwell Anderson
It’s the end of summer around here as school starts tomorrow. But the summery weather, with whiffs of fall, will remain for a while. And I am remembering these days.

I am using what is prolific right now in my garden. Lots of predominantly white cosmos this year. There were a few double cosmos like these. I love their frilly appearance.

And of course this lovely dahlia I showed you last week, Night Butterfly. It is a reliable bloomer.

A sweet little vase as we transition with the seasons.

Love that collarette Dahlia, it’s a winner!
I agree and it was a mistake. Wrongly labeled, but to my benefit.
Lovely little vase!
Thanks Janice!
Your cosmos have done well – mine gave up early in July with the heat – and they form a pretty accompaniment for that intriguing dahlia
Yes I am convinced my cosmos did so well because of all our rain.
I haven’t had much luck with Cosmos the last few years but I shall definitely look for that ‘Night Butterfly’ dahlia next year.
I think my cosmos are doing well because of all our rain…definitely look for the dahlia. They likely will still have it here, Hudson Valley Seed Company.
Your cosmos are great and I admire Night Butterfly for it’s drama. Have a good week, Donna.
Thanks and you have a great week too.
It certainly is a sweet vase Donna. Love the cosmos!
Thanks Cathy. They have been reliable bloomers all season.
Oh, so pretty! There’s just something about Cosmos–both the flowers and the foliage. <3
I agree. For some reason it reminds me of fairies!
