In a Vase on Monday – Persistence of Fall

“A yearning takes the stage. A craving for the growing time to go on. A longing for the light to remain.” ~Donna Donabella, Remodeling Upon The Terrain, A Journey of Seasonal Wisdom

With the persistence of fall in my garden, I am feeling a renewed energy. Many plants keep pumping out a few small flowers for another posy. Similar posies each week, but each a gift.

Three sweet flowers in this little vase. But they make a bold statement.

First the California poppies once again taking center stage. These are not native to my central New York state garden. But I learned that if I plant the seeds, they will grow in my late spring garden through our first killing frost. They never stop blooming. Especially if they are in a somewhat protected area. And they come back like a perennial. A treat for this gardener.

Next were the last remnants of the scraggly double white cosmos. And the last of the Johnny Jump Ups that had rebloomed when the weather cooled. I have these wild pansies or Viola tricolor growing in a large pot at the back of the garden. I hope they will reseed and show up again next year.

Three lovely flowers for a little of nature’s color reminding me the garden is not done yet. Is your garden still persisting?

With this vase, I am linking in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden.
