In a Vase on Monday – Gift

“There is a richness found at my feet, As I wander the decaying leaves and vines. Even in these colder nights and curtailed days, They still bear fruit longing to yield and multiply.” ~Donna Donabella, Cornucopia, A Journey of Seasonal Wisdom

With November, there is a huge shift. Few leaves remain, and usually we have colder days with at least one freeze. But the Super El Nino, is bringing a long spate of sunny warm days. Not usual, but certainly a gift.

And with it, I decided to cut a few late fall hydrangea flowers. They are a deep red-pink now, and make a great fall vase.

I added a couple Italian parsley seed heads.

If you leave the flowers in a vase of water that dissipates naturally, the flowers will dry and maintain their color. Then I keep them in vases all year. They are wonderful color for winter.

I have been choosing quotes from our book, A Journey of Seasonal Wisdom, throughout autumn. The poems and activities are a perfect way to celebrate this beautiful season. If you have the book, read through the fall pages, and find some ways to connect with nature. If you don’t have the book yet, then now is the perfect time to purchase it. Amazon is having a sale. It is also a perfect time to purchase the book as a Christmas gift for someone who loves nature.

And if you have the book, please leave a review either on Amazon or Goodreads. Beth and I love to know what you think.

With this vase, I am linking in with the wonderful meme, In A Vase On Monday, from Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden.

  1. Your hydrangeas still look fabulous Donna! How lovely to be able to save so many for drying. Mine sadly all got a bit singed this summer. Enjoy that gorgeous splash of colour and the last warm days of autumn!
