“Every Iris tells a story without speaking.” – Anonymous
I am a story teller from way back. My father and his ancestors were great tellers of tales. Not hard to imagine given his Irish heritage and silver tongue. I inherited that bit from him. His dry sense of humor and sarcastic air along with a bit o’ exaggeration.

And it is the love of sharing stories, that brought me to start this blog. Through this blog I began by telling stories about my garden. And then turned to my love of poetry. Which in turn led me to want to write a book with Beth@PlantPostings. Two story tellers melding our talents to create a celebration of nature.

I chose my purple Siberian iris for a vase today. In general iris symbolizes wisdom, hope, and trust. Purple iris specifically-wisdom, respect, and admiration. Perfect sentiments to honor my story telling ancestors, and this blog.

Summer is about to start in my garden. But before spring exits, I see the blooms increase. Birdsong rises as parents begin to feed their young. And the weather heats up as the daylight reaches its peak.

“My heart quickens its beat as the garden comes of age, And spring moves to summer, writing a new page.” ~Donna Donabella, The Rush of Spring (A Journal of Seasonal Wisdom, pg. 62)

Such a glorious shade of purple Donna ❤️
I love propagating my Iris collection. Quite satisfying to have that core root of energy in your hand that you know next spring will bring a beautiful smile to one and all….
Absolutely Joyce!
Oh, the rich color. Beautiful Donna!
They are such a deep purple. One of my husband’s favorites.
Storytellers, unite! Lovely arrangement and lovely sentiment, Donna. Happy vase day!
Thanks Beth. Yes. I hope we can continue to bring back the art of storytelling more and more.
What a beautiful blog, story and arrangement of your purple iris. Thank you.
Oh Noelle thank you so much! The pleasure is all mine.
A stunning arrangement of my favourite flower. I really like the way you have varied the stem length in that tall, narrow vase.
Thanks so much Sharon. That case is my first. A tall crystal bud vase that was begging for such a look.
How elegant these few stems of iris are in this slim vase – so pretty, Donna. I much prefer this type of iris to the bearded ones
Me too Cathy! Happy you enjoyed the vase.
Your vivid purple Iris is a stunner, Donna!
Kris I look forward to it every year. It was supposed to be a huge white iris, Snow Queen, but it was mislabeled. I love these serendipitous changes.
Beautiful.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Siberian Iris have been wonderful this year, haven’t they? Your vase is simple and beautiful Donna, leading to long gazes and slow contemplation.
Thanks so much for that wonderful description
So pretty and so elegant in your slender vase Donna. Beautiful colour too!
Thanks Cathy! Such a deep purple.
